Contributions Made in Sustainable Design Helped Transform Houston
HOUSTON, TX – Kirksey is pleased to announce that Brian Malarkey has been elevated to the American Institute of Architects prestigious College of Fellows. Brian has made significant contributions to the profession and his pioneering efforts to advance green building have transformed a Houston into an unexpected leader in sustainability and green building. Brian and his team “inaugurated” every major commercial LEED program in Houston by having the first of each type certified and has established Houston as the number one leader in LEED for Existing Buildings in the country.
Brian has held several National Green Building Positions including chairing the Worlds’ Fair and Expo 2020 Sustainable Committee and is a member of the International Design Associations Sustainable Advisory Committee and the Sustainable Design Leadership Group. Additionally, Brian Co-founded the U.S Green Building Council Greater Houston Area Chapter and he currently serves at the Director.
Brian has given over 35 sustainably-focused lectures and presentations including “Green Building in Houston,” “Green Building Training for Facilities Group,” and Green Building, Not Just for New Construction.” Brian’s work has been featured in numerous publications including Houston Chronicle, Houston Business Journal, Texas Construction, Texas Architect, and Building Design and Construction.
